Part 3: What’s your story? How to master the ultimate form of influence
Duration 1 Day
'Stories are the single most powerful weapon in a leader’s arsenal.'
Howard Gardner, Harvard University
At the heart of every great presentation you will find stories. From the bible to the Chicken Soup for the Soul series (the best-selling book franchise in history) stories consistently rank as the most popular form of communication. More than great entertainment, stories stick like nothing else. If you hear ten facts you’re lucky if you remember one, where as if you hear a story you’re likely to remember the whole thing that’s because the more sensory and emotional the information the better it is retained. Stories are also the best way to overcome resistance. They don’t tell us what to think nor do they take us on a journey in someone else’s shoes after which they allow us to draw our own conclusions. Lessons are much more powerful when we figure them out ourselves.
Story-telling is an art. This session will develop your natural story-telling talent. You will have the opportunity to create your own personal stories that best teach, lead, sell and persuade.
- The DART method™ four-step story creation process
- Turning dead stories into living ones
- Painting the pictures in their heads
- Making your message their mission
- Turning an entertaining story into a life-changing one
- Bringing humour into your story
- Why story-listening can be more important than story-telling
- How to use story-selling to close deals
This session will be led by international speaker and author Justin Cohen.
